RRD Russian Cup, Vetratoria, Dolzhanskaya spit, Russia. 7-17 September 2017
The wind really teased competitors and the event organisers of the RRD Russian Cup - it's the third year in a row with little wind during the days of the competitions. However, this year, we got one windy day that was fully used: 8 marathon races were held. From 7am till 6pm, 63 competitors sailed to their best in very good slalom conditions: 18-22 knots and flat water.
The marathon distance was approximately 16 km and it took about 18 minutes for the winner to go through. After midday, races were made shorter, more like a big slalom course. The fleet was divided into a Pro category and an Amateurs category, and there were awards for the best in Masters, Youth and Ladies.
The next day also had some lighter winds, which gave the opportunity to complete some light-wind slalom races, awarded as Fun races.
Final results: 1st place in PRO was awarded to Sergey Makarenko, 1st Amateur went to Sergey Dyakov who won the RRD Hydrofoil as a prize, and the first in Woman category was Shamal Team Rider Anna Sagulenko.
Congratulations fro the winners! Overall results here: http://russia.vetratoria.ru/page/rezultaty-sorevnovaniy.php
